COMMERCIAL CARD CLIENTS

Protecting your commercial card program is important.

Our teams are working hard to ensure the smooth transition of your company’s commercial credit card program from People’s United to M&T Bank. 

M&T Bank is very vigilant when it comes to protecting clients from fraud. For this reason, once your card program has been transitioned to M&T’s systems later in 2022, the following information will be used to authenticate individual cardholder accounts: 

  • Social Security Number or ID#
  • Date of Birth
  • Mobile cell phone number
  • Email address
  • Verification of your corporate address for the delivery of your new M&T Commercial Cards (physical address is required) 

Call us to provide your information as soon as possible.

While some of this information has been gathered by People’s United during the course of your current card program, we are asking for your assistance in providing any missing cardholder information.  To this end, we ask that you please contact the People’s United Division of M&T Bank Commercial Card team by phone at 1-800-441-4025 to confirm that you have viewed this message and that the email address we have for you is up to date.  This will help to ensure the safety of your cardholder information.  

After you call and confirm, we will send you a spreadsheet of your active cardholders in a securely encrypted follow-up email.  We then ask that you please complete the required information, validate any information that is provided and return it via secure email.  Additional instructions will be included with your cardholder spreadsheet.

What happens if you do not provide your information.

If you do not call us to provide the information for your cardholders, they could experience confusion or lack of assistance when calling our customer service line, as this information is used as part of our secure call verification process.

If you do not provide us your information, by default we will have to create information for our systems:

  • We will populate your cardholders’ Social Security Number and Date of Birth data with placeholder data
  • You will then need to distribute that information to your cardholders to have ready in case they need to call our service line

Additionally, if you do not call us to verify your corporate mailing address you may not receive your new corporate cards in July.

We encourage all clients to be alert for suspicious activity and to be cautious before giving out any personal information.
