On Saturday, May 14^th our hometown community of Buffalo, NY was impacted by senseless tragedy. A lone gunman entered a grocery store located across the street from our Jefferson Ave. branch and opened fire. At least 10 of our neighbors lost their lives in what was clearly a racially motivated attack. My thoughts and prayers are with all those whose lives were touched by this act of unspeakable violence.

Communities are defined by their sense of togetherness—by their ability to stand up to hate and push through toward love. The city of Buffalo is as strong and as tough a community as I know. We will not allow one man to break the bonds that hundreds of thousands have forged. Instead, we will stand together with our friends and neighbors when they need us most. We will not tolerate violence or hate in any form, and we will forever work toward the only goal that matters—to make our communities better places to live.
