Activate your card.

When your new M&T Business Debit Card arrives in the mail, activate it by calling the number shown on the sticker or by visiting an M&T ATM. Once activated, remove the sticker and sign the signature panel on the back.

M&T Business Debit Card and ATM Card for Business (with All-Activity option) cardholders must be authorized signers on all deposit accounts linked to their cards.

Business Accounts are charged on the 9th of the month, if this day is not a Business Day then the charges will post the following Business Day. With most of our accounts, you can avoid the monthly maintenance charge when you meet certain requirements or maintain a certain balance. A full list of these waivers and account features are referenced in our Checking Deposit Grid.

With Overdraft Protection, available funds are automatically transferred to your checking account from another M&T Bank business account. The following are eligible business accounts that can be linked to your Small Business checking account and used for Overdraft Protection:

Your account number is provided with your Account Opening document and on your statement.

Your routing number and account number can be found on the bottom left of your check as well, beginning with the routing number.

Bank to Bank transfer can be completed using Online Banking for Business.

Business Debit Card

ATM/cash withdrawals:

  • 15 withdrawals with a maximum of $1,000 per day

All other transactions combined:

  • 20 transactions with a maximum of $7,500 per day

Note: This is a combined limit for VISA "Credit" or Signature transactions and all PIN POS transactions.

M&T Business ATM Cards

ATM/cash withdrawals:

  • 9 withdrawals with a maximum of $500 per day

PIN POS purchases:

  • PIN POS purchases are not available on ATM cards

When you deposit a check, the bank still has to collect funds from the issuing bank. Business Customers generally receive next day availability on checks deposited.
